Kim skirt – my own little bit of hygge

There was an article on BBC news a couple of weeks ago about hygge – the Scandinavian idea of happiness/coziness/comfy. I LOVE this idea and can really identify with living this way.

I saw this fabric online from Dittö fabrics in Brighton and thought it would make the most perfect winter skirt – not too Christmassy but hygge to the hilt!

It’s a pattern hack of the Kim dress from by hand London – I did a fully lined version of the gathered skirt, and I think it worked really well!

Oh, and our friendly neighbourhood cat came to say hello when we were in the garden taking pictures!

This skirt holds a lot of firsts for me:

1) First invisible zip

2) First fully lined skirt

3) First invisible stitching on hem and waistband

4) First pin tucks

I’m really happy with how it turned out!! Have you pushed yourself recently out of your comfort zone? How’d it go?
